I currently have a C-Skim 1800 Protein Skimmer but after Rea Sea initially ill informed me I am stuck with a Ozoniser, Redox Orp Probe and Controller and custom made air dryer in which I am now advised should not be used with the skimmer and if I do it will invalidate my warranty. I am advised not to run more than 10mg per hr. But my system is 175 gallons plus in total.
So I am now looking at the Deltec TC2060. Can this skimmer utilise my Ozoniser? I have yet to run the ozoniser btw. Be greatly appreciated any info on the TC2060 running alongside an ozonizer please. One forum I read there was problem due to the air silencer and Ozonisers restricting the air flow. So really confused now.
Please help.
Andrew
I am going to pass this on to Tony to discuss what you are trying to achieve further.
I am not quite sure why you have opted for ozone however Tony will go through this with you.
There is a huge difference between the 2 skimmers that you discuss as I believe that the C skim produces about 400 lts of air compared with 1200 on the TC2060. This extra air alone will increase oxygenation and will raise the redox.
You can use up to 50 mg of ozone through the TC2060 however you are better to run just a background level as has been suggested to you.
The other guy in our company who is a bit of an ozone guru is Simon Garratt who may be able to send you some links to his own site where this highly reactive gas is covered in detail.

Tony's response
Hi Andrew
With regards to the air silencer being an issue when using ozone this is due
to the fact that the skimmer will be pulling
around 1200L/hr of air through the silencer, if you connect the ozoniser
directly to the inlet of the silencer the amount
of air to the skimmer will be greatly reduced due to the restriction of air
through the ozone unit.
The way to get around this is to fit a T piece to the top of the silencer,
run one side of the T to the ozone unit and the other
to fresh air. An air tap is fitted to the fresh air side so you can throttle
this side back a little to produce sufficient suction on the
ozone side to pull the ozone into the skimmer passively.
This way you can balance the air and ozone whilst not restricting the
available air to the skimmer.
A very good article by Simon Garratt can be found at the following link:

Hope this helps Tony
